Celebrate the birth of the U.S. Marine Corps, and Veterans Day, 2025!
November 10, 1775, one of the toughest U.S. Military service branches was born; the United States Marine Corps! The Continental Congress, at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia, officially authorized two Marine Battalions, designated the first Commandant, Capt. Sam Nicholas, who then commissioned the tavern's proprietor as the chief Marine recruiter and the tavern as a recruiting office. (Having served in the USMC, I can say, we've enjoyed some time in taverns, since our founding, as well!) That tidbit aside; from the founding to this day, the US Marines have become one of the most respected fighting forces in the world! We celebrate that birthday, this Nov. 10th! Secondly, but with no less honor, we celebrate all those who have honorably served in the United States Armed Forces, on Veteran's Day, this Nov. 11th. All branches. Through all wars and conflicts. Living or deceased. The results of the actions taken on November 10th,1775, and of those we honor on November 11th, which intertwine, changed the course of the entire world! From the great probability of forcibly trembling under the bonds of despotism, to a place where at best there is America, and at worst, there is hope that one day her ideals will reign in your borders!
